Ways to Get Involved

There are many ways local organizations can partner with SHARP Literacy to provide learning adventures for students in grades K4-5.

Educational tour sites

SHARP Literacy began with a partnership with the Milwaukee Art Museum more than 20 years ago. Since then, we’ve built relationships with additional, museums, art centers and community-based learning sites [Provide hyperlinks to the SHARP In the Field Page]. Through collaboration with highly trained museum and community-based educators, we are able to bring the best of arts integration and experiential learning to students and teachers. If your museum or learning center would like to partner with us, please contact Rachel Arbit, Senior Director of Programs, at rachel@sharpliteracy.org or 414.410.3207.

Summer Learning Gain Initiative sites

SHARP Literacy’s Summer Learning Gain Initiative (SLGI) grew out of a need to prevent “summer slide,” a reality for many urban elementary students during the months when school is not in session. If your Community Learning Center (CLC) or school would like to partner with us on our SLGI, please contact Marisa Wall Riepenhoff, Vice President of Education, at marisa@sharpliteracy.org or 414.410.3202.

After School Learning Initiative sites

Students in our After School Learning Initiative (ASLI) experience arts-based literacy enrichment activities to help them deepen critical thinking and inquiry skills. A collaborative art project and educational tour at a local museum or community-based education site are highlights of the program. If your Community Learning Center (CLC) or school would like to partner with us, please contact Marisa Wall Riepenhoff, Vice President of Education, at marisa@sharpliteracy.org or 414.410.3202.

We Love to Learn Book Series

Professional authors, artists and illustrators work with us to bring student learning to life by facilitating Young Authors and Artists Workshops to develop a book that is professionally published by SHARP Literacy. If you are interested in learning more about our We Love to Learn books, please contact Marisa Wall Riepenhoff, Vice President of Education, at marisa@sharpliteracy.org or 414.410.3202.

Committed to growth and possibility

Our After School Learning Initiative (ASLI) program was developed after an educator who saw a SHARP Literacy mural contacted us. If you are passionate about our mission, and have an idea for a learning opportunity, please contact Rachel Arbit, Senior Director of Programs, at rachel@sharpliteracy.org or 414.410.3207.
