The American Dream

For the American Dream to thrive in our community, young people need to be exposed to the world and all its possibilities as early as possible. SHARP recruited 17 companies and organizations to participate in a collaborative effort and engage fifth-graders from 17 schools in an in-depth study project. Students conducted face-to-face interviews with a chief executive at each organization, completed essays to summarize what they learned, including company history, educational requirements for employees, and salary levels for a wide variety of jobs. The students felt honored to meet so many “movers and shakers” and the executives were pleased and excited to work with so many impressive and inquisitive students.
